Polyester webbing warehouse: avoid these storage taboos at all costs!

Recent continuous heavy rains have caused significant losses for many textile factories in the Yangtze River Delta region—warehouses containing millions of dollars worth of polyester webbing have been completely ruined by mold! Industry insiders are frustrated: this material looks sturdy, but it requires careful storage.

First, humidity must be strictly controlled. Last year, a Shanghai-based export company stored webbing in a standard warehouse. After the rainy season, when they opened the boxes, they found the webbing covered in “white mold,” leading European clients to cancel their entire year's orders. Now, savvy manufacturers install dehumidifiers in their warehouses, strictly maintaining humidity below 65%, with some high-end products requiring a constant humidity of 45%.

Temperature management is also critical. A factory in Dongguan shut off the air conditioning to save electricity, resulting in colored woven ribbons fading due to 40°C heat, costing the company 300,000 yuan in compensation. Industry standards stipulate warehouse temperatures must not exceed 30°C, especially for fluorescent and light-colored products, which must be stored in shaded areas.

The most common issue is improper stacking. Last year, a logistics park in Shandong stacked ribbons without using pallets, resulting in the bottom 200 rolls of polyester webbing being completely ruined by water accumulation on the floor. Now, major factories strictly require: stacking at least 20 cm off the ground, wrapping with plastic film, and regularly rotating the stacks—all three measures are essential.

Experts caution: Don’t assume that polyester woven straps are durable and can be stored haphazardly. Now, during factory inspections by European and American clients, even warehouse temperature and humidity records are checked for three months, and a 1% deviation could result in losing the order.
